YOGA

Taught in stages – suitable for all levels

I teach in stages, providing variations and levels within each class so that everyone can participate safely and effectively, regardless of ability or experience. This ensures that you are appropriately challenged while still feeling supported, whether it's your first class or your hundredth.

YOGA

Balance between repetition and variety

No class I teach is ever the same. While repetition is important - the brain thrives on it - I balance it with variety so you're always engaged and learning, without the predictability that makes a class boring. The pace varies too, from slower, mindful sequences to slightly faster flows - somewhere between Hatha and Vinyasa for those familiar with yoga styles.

Challenge, support, and relaxation

I will challenge you, support you, and make sure you enjoy yourself along the way. Consistency is key, and over time, the benefits of proactive, mindful movement become clear. My clients range in age from 15 to 88, and I adapt sessions to suit a variety of fitness and abilities. All of my classes finish with a short guided relaxation. Using relaxing lighting, calming readings, and essential oils, you're invited to pause, breathe, and allow your nervous system the rest it deserves. Even if you find it difficult to switch off, you're always encouraged to gently challenge yourself through conscious breathing - offering your body and mind a moment of calm after movement.

YOGA

Variety is key

Yoga and Pilates are powerful tools, but they aren't the only things your body needs. While I strive to make my classes challenging and far from "easy," they cannot replace cardiovascular exercise, strength training, or multidirectional activities - all of which are crucial for bone health, functional movement, and overall fitness. My classes complement these activities, helping you move efficiently, improve body awareness, and build strength in ways that support your broader fitness and wellbeing.

PILATES

The APPI method – physiotherapy-based Pilates

My training is in the APPI Method (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute). This method was created and is taught by physiotherapists, originally for physiotherapists, and was later opened to non-clinical practitioners.

It is the same Pilates method taught at The Horder Centre in Crowborough, but at a more accessible price point (my sessions are £10 rather than £16).

PILATES

Adapted and Accessible for All Abilities

This means I teach an adapted, accessible style of Pilates suitable for a wide range of abilities. Each exercise has six levels, ensuring no one ever feels left behind—there is always an option available, whatever your starting point. Ideally, you should be able to weight bear through your hands and knees for short periods of time; however, cushions and blankets can be used to make this more comfortable. I regularly work with students who have knee injuries or who have had total knee replacements, and their confidence and physical ability have grown significantly through this approach.

What I don't teach

I do not teach classical Pilates as favoured by ballerinas and dancers. If that is the style of Pilates you are looking for, then I may not be the right teacher for you.

NO NONSENSE

My teaching style

I’m often asked how I approach teaching Yoga, and the truth is, my style has grown naturally from my training and experience. I was trained to understand all aspects of Yoga, but my teacher gave me the space to explore those elements and develop my own approach - one that feels authentic and allows me to connect with my own community of students.

Your body is designed to adapt, but it requires challenge to maintain balance and strength. Without regular, varied movement, muscles weaken, joints stiffen, and overall function declines - particularly as we age. My aim is to help you maintain
strength, mobility, and resilience through thoughtful, consistent practice.
